DA: Skeletal Remains Found in Waltham Woods Belong to Missing Elderly Woman

Skeletal human remains found in a wooded area in Waltham, Massachusetts, on Wednesday are believed to belong to a woman who was reported missing last May.

The Middlesex district attorney's office said investigators made their preliminary determination that the bones belong to 73-year-old Sara LaRoche based on clothing located with the remains, surveillance video and interviews with family members.

The remains were found in a wooded area behind the property line of Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School.

LaRoche was reported missing near Brook Avenue in May 2017. Police said it was possible she was suffering from dementia.

The state's Chief Medical Examiner's office will determine the remains' identification and cause of death.

Foul play is not suspected.
