Skier Dies at Cannon Mountain in New Hampshire

The skier died after a collision with another skier on an open trail

A skier died after a collision at Cannon Mountain on Friday afternoon, according to New Hampshire State Police.

Cannon Mountain Ski Patrol responded around 2:45 p.m. Friday to a report of a two-skier collision on an open trail.

The skier's name and cause of death have not been released at this time, but the state's medical examiner was dispatched to the mountain in Franconia.

The second skier involved was transported off the mountain around 3:20 p.m. with several injuries. There is no update on that skier's condition at this time.

State police say they were called to Cannon Mountain at 3:50 p.m. to investigate the death of a skier. 

Several people witnessed the fatal accident, which is being investigated by Cannon Mountain Ski Area, the Franconia Police Department, and State police.
