Williams J. Worth suffered minor injuries in the crash on Rte. 35 in Standish

A small plane crashed in Standish, Maine, causing injuries.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office confirms that the single-engine bi-plane was being flown by 43-year-old Williams J. Worth, who was traveling from Frenchville to Sanford Airport.

Worth described trying to land the plane when it experienced a mechanical malfunction. He struck tree branches and telephone wires.

The Indiana resident suffered minor injuries and was taken to Maine Medical Center.

The plane was badly damaged.

The crash took place on Route 35 Sunday afternoon. The road was closed in the area.
