The end is in sight. Thursday is the final day of the big heat and humidity that’s been in place for several days.
Temperatures will climb into the 80s and even near 90 on Thursday, just before a cold front passes by at night. As the front comes through, expect a mixture of sun and clouds and a few isolated downpours or a spot storm.
The risk of a storm would be highest in parts of Central and Eastern Maine, as well as in Southeastern Massachusetts. This will not be anything like Wednesday, though. There will be fewer storms and they won’t be as intense.
Humidity drops overnight as a new wave of rain rides into parts of New England. A few of those showers will linger into Friday morning in Southern New England. Over the course of the morning, the showers and clouds will pull away from north to south, allowing sunshine to increase.
Temperatures will be in the 70s to near 80 as the refreshing air flows in.
The weekend will also be fall-like, with highs in the 60s and 70s both days. Saturday will be brightest, with lots of sun, but Sunday brings a few more clouds and even a spot shower thanks to an onshore wind. Overnight, low temperatures will be in the 40s and 50s.

Monday and Tuesday will also be cool with a mix of sun and clouds, and perhaps a shower blowing in off the water from time to time.
Temperatures likely get back closer to 80 by the end of the week, and the start of Labor Day weekend.
