NH Seeks Input on Managing Wild Game

The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department wants Granite Staters to weigh in on how many wild animals they'd like to see

The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department wants Granite Staters to weigh in on how many wild animals they'd like to see.

The department's online questionnaire about game management is open through Sunday.

Biologists will use the public input provided through the questionnaire along with a wide range of data to make draft recommendations about the ideal populations of moose, deer, bears and turkeys.

The effort is part of the update to the state's 10-year game management plan. The plan establishes regional population goals for each species and helps set the number of hunting permits issued, among other things.

There will also be public meetings. Final recommendations are to be adopted in May and June and will take effect in 2016.

The online survey is at: www.wildnh.com/Hunting/game_plan_2015.html.
