Monday will be dry, sunny and seasonably cool. It’s remarkable that even after the record cold many of us experienced last week, temperatures in January were still above average in many cities.
On Tuesday, a storm system will move in from the west. A wintry mix will change to rain along the coast. In the mountains, snow will be the primary form of precipitation.
The storm beings to pull away on Wednesday. Precipitation may end as a burst of snow, even along the coast. Significant snow accumulation is likely across the Green and Whites.

Thursday will be dangerously cold, again. It might not be as cold as last week, but it will come close. High temperatures may stay below zero across portions of interior New England, even at the coast, the mercury may struggle to get into the 10s.
By Friday, the coldest air will exit the region. Next weekend, temperatures will continue to moderate. At this point, both weekend days look to remain dry. Even warmer air returns early the following week. Unsettled weather will also make a comeback, but for most locations in New England, it should be warm enough for mainly rain.
