Storm Unearths Revolutionary War-Era Ship in Maine

The nor'easter that hit New England hard this past weekend helped unearth a ship that may date back to the 18th century in York, Maine.

According to WCSH, the skeleton of a ship appeared following the heavy rains on Short Sands Beach.

The ship is believed to be from the Revolutionary War.

However, locals reportedly said this isn't the first time that the hull has been seen.

The Portland Press Herald reports that parts of the ship were exposed in 2007.

Experts say that the 51-foot-hull is most likely from a late colonial or early post-colonial sloop. That means it would date from 1750 to 1850.
