A Massachusetts man was ordered held without bail during his arraignment in his hospital room Monday in connection with the stabbing death of his wife Friday night at the couple's Stoughton home.

Ilton Rodrigues, 48, entered a plea of not guilty to the murder of his wife, 43-year-old Telma Bras, from his hospital bed.

According to the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office, Rodrigues allegedly stabbed his wife before trying to take his own life. The couple's 17-year-old daughter called a family member during the incident, who then called police.

Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Blair said when police arrived at the couple's Bennett Drive apartment at about 11:30 p.m., a knife was still protruding from his body.
