Student Taken Into Custody After Allegedly Making Snapchat Threat

Extra police are on hand at a Massachusetts high school after a student allegedly made a threat on a social media platform Sunday night.

Administrators at Bellingham Public Schools said in a statement Monday they were notified at about 10:30 p.m. by school resource officers that a student posted a picture on Snapchat with the heading, "School Shooter LOL".

The student, whose name was not released, was taken into custody and Bellingham police searched the student's home where no lethal weapons were found.

School administrators said it is believed the student at Bellingham High School acted alone. It's unclear if the student will face charges.

As a precaution, police were stationed at the school on Sunday night and will continue to stay there on Monday. Entrances will also be locked and visitors will have to enter through the main office doors as they normally do.

Administrators are praising the swift action of the school resource officers who brought the incident to their attention.
