Framingham State University’s president is warning students to stay vigilant after a student reported that she was assaulted on campus.

In an alert issued Wednesday, FSU president F. Javier Cevallos alerted students of the assault, according to Metro West Daily News. The student said she was walking on campus at 8:20 p.m. Monday when two men grabbed her near Dwight Hall and Hemenway Hall.

The student reported that one man grabbed her arm and the other assailant grabbed her backpack. She said she went to her residence hall after she was able to pull free from their grasp. A university spokesman said the student was unable to provide a description of the two men.

Cevallos said campus police are investigating the assault and they are reviewing security footage.

"The safety of our students is always my number one priority. We will be increasing walking police patrols of the campus area moving forward," he said in the alert to students.

Anyone with information on the assault is encouraged to contact FSU campus police at 508-626-4911.
