Substitute Teacher at Maine High School Faces Sex Charge Involving Student

Authorities say a substitute teacher at a Maine high school is charged with sexual exploitation of a minor and possession of sexually explicit material.

Officials say 52-year-old William Bourget, of Edgecomb, was arrested Friday by detectives with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

WCSH-TV reports (http://on.wcsh6.com/1 ) that Bourget is a substitute teacher at Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro.

He was charged after sheriff's detectives and the Waldoboro Police Department investigated a report that Bourget was in an online relationship with a minor student.

Authorities say Bourget is alleged to have exchanged sexually explicit photos with a student at the school. That student confided in a friend, who told school officials.

Bourget is being held on $5,000 cash bail. It was not immediately known if he has a lawyer.
