Subway Service Resumes After Boston Derailment

The cause of the derailment is under investigation

Subway service in Boston is up and running a day after a car derailed, sending nine people to the hospital.

In a statement issued on Twitter early Sunday morning, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority said regularly scheduled service had resumed on the affected branches of the public transit system's Green Line.

The accident occurred at about 11 a.m. Saturday when a Green Line subway car derailed inside a tunnel near Kenmore Square.

Local emergency officials said none of the injuries were life-threatening. A 10th individual was reported injured but declined treatment.

Emergency workers said they were told by witnesses that everything went dark and they were thrown around the car.

The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
