A winter storm warning has been expanded to parts of New England.
That warning has expanded into part of the Berkshires and southern Vermont.
The first half of the weekend will be mild with highs in the 50s to near 60. Sunshine will be most widespread in Western and Central New England, while a bank of clouds envelops the coastline.
Clouds fill in for everyone overnight Saturday, with scattered rain showers breaking out as a cold front nears.
That front will usher in sharply cooler air on Sunday. Temperatures will drop into the 30s and 40s during the day as a gusty and chilly wind blows.
As that happens rain showers will flip over to snow in parts of Northwest Connecticut, Western Massachusetts, and Northern New England during the morning hours.
A few snow showers are even likely in the Worcester Hills and Southwestern New Hampshire. In those spots there may be a dusting here or there, but most of the accumulation will remain though the highest terrain.

A few inches are likely from the Litchfield Hills into the Berkshires, with several inches falling along the Green Mountains and in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom.
The snow will come not only Sunday, but also into Monday in those areas.
Elsewhere on Monday we’ll find partial sunshine, a continued gusty wind, and chilly conditions with highs in the 30s and 40s.
Get used to those values, because they’ll continue much of next week.
We’ll be quiet on Tuesday and Wednesday for pre-holiday travel, but a few rain and snow showers will return closer to the holiday itself.
