The New England Patriots may not be coming back with a new title, but a Massachusetts teenager is after what happened at half time.

Ryan McKenna, a seventh-grader from Scituate, is now known as "the Super Bowl selfie kid" after he stole the halftime show by taking a selfie with Justin Timberlake.

"I didn't think I was ever going to get the opportunity to be up there with him, so I just kind of went for it," McKenna said.

The 13-year-old is back home in Scituate after a whirlwind trip with his dad and brother to Minneapolis. He said he rushed to get to the front of the row when he saw Justin Timberlake was getting close, and then he pulled out his phone.

"Now it's gone viral and I can't even believe it. It's insane," McKenna said.

His mom was watching on TV and could not believe her son was saying "cheese" with JT.

"All of the sudden, there's Ryan," Tracy McKenna said. "And my drink went flying and I was like 'Oh my gosh! That's Ryan!'"

The teenager has seen the memes, making fun of him fiddling with his phone before snapping the shot. He said it is not what it looks like, but he was having some technical trouble.

"I wasn't looking up anything," McKenna said. "I was taking a video and my phone shut off."

Luckily, he got it back on just in time to get the ultimate Super Bowl souvenir. He plans to return to school at Derby Academy in Hingham soon, with over 30,000 new Instagram followers.

"This is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," McKenna said. "This is crazy to believe this is me."
