Man Accused of Firing Gun Near Man Over Horse Dispute

A man in Orwell, Vermont, was arrested after being accused of firing a gun in the direction of a man and his daughter over a horse dispute

A man in Orwell, Vermont, was arrested after being accused of firing a gun in the direction of a man and his daughter over a horse dispute, according to police.

Police responded to 28 Parks Drive at 8:13 Thursday evening after a report of a suspicious complaint.

During investigation it was discovered that Jeffrey Brandish, 51, of Orwell and Clifford Casavant, 41, of Salisbury, has a dispute over a horse.

During the argument Brandish fired a handgun in the direction of Casavant and his daughter. Both were unharmed.

Brandish also allegedly threatened to kill Casavant if he didn’t return the horse.

Brandish was taken into custody and will be arraigned in Addison County Court Friday.
