Mainor Edgardo Suazo-Martinez was given several charges after he allegedly pulled a woman into an alley and chokes and sexually assaulted her

A man suspected of sexually assaulting and choking a woman in Brookline, Massachusetts, faced a judge on Tuesday.

Mainor Edgardo Suazo-Martinez, 20, who was hidden during his arraignment at Brookline District Court, was charged with assault with intent to rape, strangulation and kidnapping.

Martinez was arrested early Saturday after he allegedly pulled a woman into an alley near Thorndike Street and sexually assaulted her.

According to Brookline police, they responded to the area of Thorndike Street at about 2:55 a.m., when the victim said she had been sexually assaulted as she walked home from a friend's house on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston's Allston neighborhood.

According to the victim's attorney, she told police that an unknown man, later identified by police as Suazo-Martinez, approached her in the area of 1202 Commonwealth Ave. and started to make conversation. She declined to engage in conversation, police said.

The victim said the suspect then took her phone and keys. She said she continued to walk towards her home when Suazo-Martinez allegedly pulled her into the alley.

Authorities said thinking she was going to be raped, the victim told Suazo-Martinez, "I live close by. Let's move to my apartment."

When they got there, the suspect was greeted by her roommates who took a photo of him before he took off. That photo is how police were able to track him down.

He was located in the area of Brighton Avenue and Harvard Street at about 3:19 a.m. Saturday.

Family members told NBC10 Boston they can't believe what he's accused of doing.

"Mainor is a good person," said his aunt Olga Suazo. "He's a good boy. He's working."

According to police, he also has two warrants in Boston for the statutory aggravated rape of a child.

Suazo-Martinez was held pending a dangerous hearing on Wednesday.
