Maine police say a man charged with arson in connection with a Halloween house fire will appear in court next month.

Jerald Stevens of Princeton is accused of entering an Indian Township home through an unlocked door and setting a fire that caused extensive damage. Police say the 33-year-old Stevens did not know the homeowner, and the home was unoccupied at the time. The fire occurred in the early morning hours of last Oct. 31.

Police say Stevens is due in Washington County Superior Court on March 23.

Stevens or an attorney representing him could not be reached to comment on the charges.
