A man accused of shooting a Boston Police officer earlier this year has been indicted by a grand jury.
Grant Headley, 27, allegedly shot officer Kurt Stokinger on Jan. 5 after he was stopped in Dorchester. Headley had been accused of dealing crack while on probation.
Thursday, the jury indicted Headley on 12 counts, including armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a firearm, drug possession with intent to distribute and several firearm charges.
Stokinger's injuries were not life-threatening. He returned home from Boston Medical Center two days after the shooting.
"In our minds, he's a hero," Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said.
