Autumn is known for temperature swings, and there will be no shortage of them coming up.
Under mostly cloudy skies, temperatures will climb into the 70s on Thursday. An approaching cold front will spark a few showers in Northern New England during the afternoon, and perhaps a spot shower in Southern New England during the evening.
One of two of those showers may be around Gillette Stadium for the early part of the Patriots vs. Colts game, but even if that is the case there will be minimal impact to the game and fans. Temperatures will be in the 60s at that time.
Skies will then clear overnight as the front departs, allowing temperatures to drop into the 30s and 40s by morning in Northern New England. We'll wake up with 50s in Southern New England.
Despite lots of sunshine on Friday, a stiff north-northeast wind 10 to 20 mph will keep temperatures locked in the upper 50s to near 60 during the afternoon.
Saturday will also be cool and partly cloudy, with temperatures in the low 60s for many.

Temperatures warm back into the 70s in many spots on Sunday, but there will be a few more clouds and even a few spot showers in Northern New England.
Highs will settle back into the 60s on Columbus Day, only to then pop back into the 70s for the middle of next week.
All the while foliage continues to progress around New England. Peak color is now being reported in far Northern Maine, with peak conditions likely in Northern Vermont and New Hampshire this weekend. Moderate color has spread across the rest of those Northern New England states, with low color farther south.
Swells from Hurricane Leslie, the storm that still spins in the middle of the Atlantic, also continue to arrive at the coast.
