Teen Arrested in Alleged Sex Assault at Mass. High School

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with an alleged sexual assault in a Massachusetts high school, according to police.

Weymouth police say the teen was arrested Wednesday and is currently being held in custody.

The Weymouth School District acknowledged that the alleged attack had taken place Monday inside Weymouth High School.

"As soon as we became aware of the incident, we immediately involved the Weymouth Police and took appropriate action in accordance with our code of conduct," read a statement attributed to Dr. Jennifer Curtis-Whipple, the superintendent of Weymouth Public Schools, and Alan Strauss, the principal of Weymouth High School.

The statement said the incident "involves minor students."

Counselors will be made available to students.

"This is an unfortunate event and we want to be mindful of the possible effects that this may have on our students," the statement read.
