Teen Charged in NH Chase, Shootout

Ryan Mateo is facing multiple charges after he allegedly shot at another vehicle, hitting one of the occupants in the back

A New Hampshire teen is facing multiple charges after police said he shot a man in the back during a wild shootout on Monday night.

Ryan Mateo, 19, of 4 Louisberg Square, Apt. 1, Nashua, is charged with one count of first degree assault, four counts of attempted first degree assault and five counts of reckless conduct. 

Rony Encarnacion Guzman, 20, of 16 Nevada St., Nashua, who police say was driving the vehicle Mateo was in at the time of the shooting, is charged with criminal liability to first degree assault, four counts of criminal liability to first degree assault and five counts of criminal liability to reckless conduct.

Both suspects are being held without bail pending their arraignments in Nashua District Court on Wednesday.

Nashua Police said they received a call reporting shots fired on Kinsley Street around 7 p.m. Around that time, police received a call from Southern New Hampshire Regional Medical Center advising that they were tending to a 20-year-old man from Nashua who had been shot in the back. The injuries were not life threatening, and the victim was later released.

Upon investigation, police learned that there were two different groups of people who were known to each other in two different vehicles. In the area of Lovell and Pine streets, an individual from one of the vehicles began to shoot at the second vehicle. The person shooting was in a vehicle behind the first vehicle, shooting from the passenger seat. More shots were fired in the area of Pine and Kinsley streets, and then again in the area of Kinsley and Palm streets.

Police located the vehicle that had been shot at in the lot of Southern New Hampshire Regional Medical Center. Multiple rounds were found in the rear of the vehicle.
