17-Year-Old Charged in 16-Year-Old's Shooting Death Appears in Court

A 17-year-old Massachusetts boy charged with manslaughter in the August shooting death of a 16-year-old boy was arraigned in court on additional charges Wednesday.

Jonathan Perry was charged in the death of Tenzin Kunkhyen of Malden, who died from a single gunshot wound to the chest inside a home at 14 Farragut Ave. in Somerville on Aug. 29.

Perry fled the scene, according to police. An arrest warrant was issued and Perry was arrested in Arlington on Sept. 5.

Following an indictment, he faced additional charges in connection with the shooting, including aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and carrying a firearm without a license.

Juvenile sessions are usually closed to the public, but Perry was charged as a youthful offender, which resulted in his arraignment taking place in open court.

Not guilty pleas were entered on his behalf.

He will reappear in court on Dec. 13 and will have the opportunity to argue for bail on Feb. 5.
