Teen Stabbed in the Face Near RI Nightclub

Police say a 16-year-old Massachusetts boy was hospitalized after he was stabbed in the face during a fight over the weekend in downtown Providence, Rhode Island.

Lt. Michelle Guerette tells The Providence Journal the teen was stabbed just before 3 a.m. Sunday following a disturbance near the Colosseum nightclub at the intersection of Chestnut and Friendship streets.

Friends had already taken the injured teen away from the scene by the time officers arrived.

A description of a vehicle seen leaving the area was sent to local law enforcement agencies. The car was stopped by East Providence police near the Massachusetts state line and the victim was taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital.

Guerette says the New Bedford, Massachusetts boy told police that he'd taken a party bus into Providence on Saturday night.
