Teen Stabbed to Death in Lowell

A teenager was stabbed to death Monday in Lowell, Massachusetts.

The Middlesex County District Attorney's Office confirms an 18-year-old Lowell man had died after being stabbed around 7 p.m. in the area of Lawrence Drive.

The victim was taken to Lowell General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the DA's office said.

According to the Lowell Sun, the death is the city's first homicide of 2019.

Although authorities say the victim wasn't a student at UMass Lowell, university officials released a statement saying the university alerted students on campus about the fatal stabbing and that university police were working closely with Lowell police "to respond to any incident that occurs in the city near our property."

No arrests have been announced.

The investigation into the fatal stabbing is ongoing.
