A high school student was struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon in West Newbury, Massachusetts, according to West Newbury police and fire.
The 15-year-old male pedestrian was crossing the road with two friends at approximately 2:20 p.m. when he was hit by a Jeep SUV driven by a female traveling east on route 113 at the Pentucket Regional High School, according to the police investigation.
The pedestrian suffered a serious leg injury and was transported to a nearby hospital. No one else was hit or injured.
West Newbury police are actively investigating the incident. The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
