A brave teenager is getting some well-deserved recognition years after she reported a teacher's suspicious behavior.

Ana Goble raised concerns about a special ed teacher's inappropriate behavior five years ago. At the time she was in seventh grade at Rundlett Middle School in Concord, New Hampshire.

When she first raised the issue to a friend, Goble was accused of spreading malicious gossip, her family tells The Boston Globe. She was even suspended for it, but it turned out she was right to be suspicious.

Primo "Howie" Leung is accused of raping a girl beginning when she was a student at the middle school through her freshman year at Concord High School in New Hampshire. Leung was working at a summer camp at Fessenden School in Newton, Massachusetts, at the time, the Globe reports.

The alleged behavior began just months after Goble first raised her concerns.

The New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence honored Goble Thursday night for bravely taking a stand and speaking up.

Leung is being charged with aggravated rape of a child, among other charges, in Massachusetts, the Globe reports. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The principal and superintendent were put on leave, and the school board is now reviewing all its policies and procedures linked to student safety.
