After nearly three decades of headlines, The Improper Bostonian announced Thursday they are shutting down.

In what she titled "An Improper Farewell", publisher Wendy Semonian Eppich announced the closing, effective immediately, in an online letter to staff, partners, vendors and readers.

For 28 years, the lifestyle magazine had been published twice a month and covered a variety of topics including entertainment, music, fashion, theatre, and sports.

"While this news might be surprising, the company has had a great run and we're hopefully leaving this incredible city better and brighter since our inception in 1991," wrote Semonian Eppich, whose brother founded the magazine.

She thanked current and past staff members for all of their hard work over the years.

"You amaze me every day and are smart, creative, kind, humble, loyal, fun and fabulous. You’ve been an absolute joy along this Improper journey," wrote Semonian Eppich.

Her letter closed thanking loyal readers for their support:

"Thank you for picking us up every two weeks and putting us on your coffee tables—or in recent years, for also clicking on our website. It has been a pleasure to entertain, inspire, inform and amuse you."
