3 Hurt After 13-Year-Old Crashes Ambulance Into Ditch

Three people were reportedly injured when a 13-year-old boy drove an ambulance into a ditch Thursday night in Coventry, Rhode Island.

The boy was reportedly having trouble walking down Route 117 in Coventry with his mother. According to WJAR in Providence, officers received a call that the boy was having trouble walking and brought him to a local fire station to be evaluated.

As soon as he got out of the car, the boy jumped into an ambulance that still had its keys in the ignition. A firefighter tried to stop the boy, but he drove across the street and struck a police cruiser and motorcycle before he crashed.

The firefighter who tried to stop the boy, the motorcyclist and the boy himself were taken to an area hospital and treated for minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
