Tom Brady Presser Ends Abruptly After Guerrero and Edelman Question

Tom Brady's first appearance at the podium at training camp came to an abrupt end.

Asked about fan and media speculation that Julian Edelman's four-game suspension for performance enhancing drugs was connected to Alex Guerrero, the New England Patriots quarterback wasn't pleased.

"I have no comment," Brady responded to the question. "That's just ridiculous."

The six-minute press conference was over.

"I'm out. See you guys," Brady said.

The Pats quarterback also dismissed a question on rumors of turmoil within the organization this off-season earlier in the press conference, saying he had no thoughts.

Brady is set to begin his 19th season with the Patriots, the entirety of which has been spent alongside head coach Bill Belichick.

Josh McDaniels has been with the team for much of the run, including two separate stints as the team's offensive coordinator. He appeared all but gone to the Indianapolis Colts in the off-season to become a head coach, only to do an about face and return to Foxboro.

"Josh and I have had a great relationship for 18 years," Brady said. "He's one of my best friends, I love working with him. We've had a very special relationship that I cherish. It's been that way for a long time."

Did Brady play any role in McDaniels deciding to hang around New England?

"I always talk to him about everything. Like I said, he's a great friend of mine. I love him, I love his family, we're very close. If you work together with someone for that long, you have a great rapport and relationship. I'm happy he's on our team, happy he's coaching me, and I want to go out there and do well by him."

Brady won his third NFL MVP award in 2017 at age 40, throwing for a league-high 4,577 yards to go along with 32 touchdown passes and eight interceptions. He completed 66.3 percent of his passes, the third-highest mark of his career. Brady turns 41 on Aug. 3.

Edelman spoke with reporters at the same time as Brady, where he said he was disappointed with his looming suspension, but is taking accountability for what happened.

"It's disappointing with the penalty and the findings," Edelman said. "But ultimately my focus is going out and trying to work my knee and get better each day. It was tough last year. Watching your team go out and play great football without you."

Edelman, 32, missed the entire 2017 season with a torn ACL that he suffered in New England's third pre-season game. He's entering his 10th year in the Patriots organization.
