Trial Date Set for Prep School Dismissal Case

The lawsuit focuses on the dismissal of "John Doe," an unidentified 15-year-old

A federal lawsuit filed by the parents of a former Phillips Exeter Academy student who claim their son was unjustly forced to leave the prestigious prep school will head to trial in November.

The Portsmouth Herald reports the trial connected to the lawsuit filed Aug. 30 by "Father and Mother Doe" is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of Nov. 14.

The lawsuit focuses on the dismissal of "John Doe," an unidentified 15-year-old who was placed on leave after school administrators found out that he had sex with a female student.

The suit alleges that the parents of John Doe were informed that their son would be involuntarily removed from the school for sexual harassment if he didn't withdraw himself.

School officials say John Doe's case was handled fairly.
