Vt. Trooper Shoots Domestic Assault Suspect Armed With Shotgun

Police in Vermont say a man has been treated for minor injuries following a shooting involving a state trooper.

Police in Hartford said they responded to a call of a domestic assault with shots fired on Sunday night. Officers from Hartford and Lebanon, New Hampshire, said they found a man armed with shotgun walking in the road near the home. Police said he refused to comply with their orders, but he didn't threaten anyone with the gun.

The man then encountered Vermont troopers. Police said he again refused to comply with commands and a trooper fired at him once. A stun gun also was used on the man, who was taken into custody and brought to a hospital. Police didn't specify his injuries.

Police are investigating. The trooper has been placed on paid administrative leave.
