A Tufts University hazing scandal led to a Cease and Desist order and suspension of all fraternity activities.

Students and faculty were first notified about the suspension in a campus-wide email the administration sent on Friday. Initially only four fraternities received the order, but administration ultimately placed a hold on all fraternity activities while the university and the police conduct their investigation.

For weeks, Tufts has been looking into reports of hazing and sexual misconduct in several organizations for weeks. In addition to the suspension all fraternities must enroll in sexual misconduct prevention training, which involves an alcohol education session. They will also meet with a national hazing prevention expert.

Tufts University administration says the steps they have taken so far are, “interim measures” based on the results of the investigation.

The suspension is expected to last for the remainder of the semester.
