It’s amazing to think that we are almost done with May. The unofficial start to summer is here.
Our weather has taken a positive turn. What was a rainy, cool May has turned a bit brighter and warmer.
In Boston for example, our average temperature is only 0.3 degrees below normal and we are actually experiencing a rainfall shortage for the month. That might not seem possible with 14 days of measurable rainfall, but it’s important to point out that none of that rain was particularly heavy.
Overnight showers and thunderstorms are expected. Severe weather looks unlikely. Any thunderstorms, which moves through will produce locally heavy rain. Most of the showers clear in time for Sunday morning. Much of the day on Sunday will be sunny. It will also be the warmest day of the holiday weekend. Temperatures could climb into the mid and upper 80s. A sea breeze is possible along the coast during the afternoon.
Memorial Day will be dry and pleasant. For the services and parades, it will be comfortable. Temperatures will be in the 70s with lower humidity levels.
Our weather takes a turn Tuesday. A backdoor cold front will drop south during the early morning. Temperatures will only reach the low to mid 60s. It will be mostly cloudy and showers will be possible.
Shower chances will continue through the remainder of the week, but at least temperatures will begin to moderate. 80 degrees and higher warmth is possible by Thursday. Shower chances decrease slightly in time for next weekend.

Even though our weather is back to being unsettled, it doesn’t appear that we will see any wash-outs. At this point, we are looking at garden variety showers.
