Twin River Casino Introduces Poker

Twin River officials say about 130 people were either playing or waiting to play at one of the casino's 16 poker tables within an hour of their debut

Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island, has now begun to offer poker as the gambling house's competition in New England continues to grow.

WJAR-TV reports the poker games opened on Thursday just after noon.

Twin River officials say about 130 people were either playing or waiting to play at one of the casino's 16 poker tables within an hour of their debut.

The casino offers two basic games, seven-card stud and Texas hold 'em, at tables that can each seat 10 players.

Vice President and General Manager Craig Sculos says poker was the game Twin River needed to become a "full-blown casino."

Poker tables are open from noon to 4 a.m. on weekdays and games are held nonstop from Friday afternoon to 4 a.m. Monday.
