Firefighters successfully rescued two pet dogs from a fire in the basement of a home in Brewster, Mass., overnight.

A call came in around midnight on Henry's Road, where residents who had already gotten out of the home told crews that the pets were still stuck inside.

Unfortunately, a pet cat did not make it out.

"There's heavy fire damage in the basement," Brewster Fire Chief Robert Moran said. "There's some minor extension to the fire floor, which was handled and stopped before it spread to any other areas of the house."

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
