Two Pedestrians Hit By Car in Saugus, One Suffered Severe Injuries: Police

The two people were struck as they crossed Route 99, according to Saugus police

A 57-year-old woman sustained life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car in Saugus Friday night, police said.

The woman and an adult man were hit as they crossed Route 99 near Colonial Traveler Inn around 10:20 p.m. Friday, according to Saugus Police.

An earlier police statement said the collision occurred near Chisholm's Motor Inn.

Both people were rushed to Boston hospitals. The man's injuries did not seem to be life-threatening, authorities said.

The driver the car, a 67-year-old man from Malden, stayed on the scene, police said. A portion of the road was temporarily closed Friday night into early Saturday morning.

The crash is being investigated by Saugus Police and the State Police Accident Reconstruction Team.
