UVM Board of Trustees Approve $95 Million Sports Arena

The University of Vermont's board of trustees has unanimously approved a multi-million dollar plan for a new sports arena.

The board approved the $95 million project Saturday morning, paving the way for construction to start as early as this winter provided the college meets fundraising goals and secures permitting. UVM Athletic Director Jeff Schulman tells the Burlington Free Press that the endorsement and approval from the board allows them to move forward.

Schulman says he is "very, very confident" that construction will begin this winter and that the facility will be open for the 2020-2021 academic year.

The new multipurpose arena would create a new home for the school's basketball programs and will renovate existing sports complexes for long-term use.
