‘Industrial Incident' at MSPCA Centerville Sends Man to Hospital

A man was hospitalized Thursday morning in what is being called an industrial incident at the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Centerville.

The Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills Fire Department responded to a call at 8 a.m. for an unresponsive person at the MSPCA's Cape Cod center on Falmouth Road.

When crews arrived, they administered advanced life support to the man. The man, who has not been identified, was taken to Cape Cod Hospital where his current condition is unknown.

Authorities said the man is a heating contractor who was working on the boiler at the shelter.

A representative for the man's company said the contractor suffered a medical incident. Fire officials did not provide that information.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been called in to investigate.

The investigation is ongoing.
