Vermont Man Arrested in Shooting Death of Wife

Police in Vermont say a 70-year-old Royalton man was arrested in connection with the shooting death of his estranged wife over the weekend.

Vermont State Police say the victim, 48-year-old Wanda Sanville, was shot and killed at her home Sunday morning in front of multiple witnesses. Police say one of the witnesses was able to take the gun from the suspect, who then fled the scene.

Officials say the suspect was located at a nearby barn and arrested that afternoon.

Police say the husband had a court order prohibiting contact with Sanville, and is a convicted felon.

Detectives with the Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit and Bureau of Criminal Investigation are continuing to investigate the incident.
