Van Crashes Into Front of Arlington, Mass. House

A van crashed into the front of an Arlington, Massachusetts house on Friday morning.

A chimney sweep van was on Sunset Road when it began rolling backward, before crashing into Jonathan Gattinella's house.

The driver of the vehicle, a 45-year-old New York man, was cited with allegedly Failing to Secure a Motor Vehicle When Exiting.

According to police, the driver failed to put the van in park before exiting the vehicle.

The driver noticed the vehicle moving forward and tried to jump back in, but was knocked down in the process.

A passenger still in the van allegedly grabbed the wheel to steer the van away from parked cars, before crashing into Gattinella's front stairs.

The Arlington fire department said both the driver and passenger were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Gattinella said his landlord is now working with contractors to repair the damage and that it is amazing someone was not more seriously hurt.
