    Vermont Estimates $4.5M in Wind Storm Damage

    Vermont officials that damage from last week's wind storm that left tens of thousands of people in the dark for days caused at least $4.5 million in damage to public infrastructure.

    Starting Wednesday, officials from a number of state agencies will begin verifying the damage by the rain and wind storms that hit Oct. 29 that will determine if the state qualifies for a federal disaster declaration.

    If a federal disaster declaration is issued, the state would be eligible for federal funds to help pay the costs of those repairs.

    For the state to qualify for a declaration, the Federal Emergency Management Agency must verify at least $1 million in public infrastructure damage. The numbers include restoration costs for public utilities.
