Vermont Nurses Organizations Merge to Increase Coverage

Two nursing organizations in Vermont will become one, after the local health care board approved a merger.

The Rutland Herald reports that the Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of the Southwest Region was approved to merge with Manchester Health Services. The two organizations after merging would oversee a large section of southwest Vermont.

Officials with the two nursing organizations say it will be business as usual, and the executive director of MHS says the two organizations have been in talks for years.

Officials said there would be no staffing changes. They also said merging back office functions would allow nurses to focus on patient care.
