Vermont Senate Approves Legal Marijuana Measure

    The Real Origin of '420'

There have been many myths about where the slang "420" originated from, but here's the real story behind the term. (Published Friday, April 20, 2018)

A legal marijuana plan has suddenly resurfaced and passed the Vermont Senate on a 21-9 vote, though it's highly unlikely the House will move on the bill this year.

On Wednesday, Senate Democrats revealed they plan to insert the entirety of a legal marijuana bill with robust "seed-to-sale" regulations to an unrelated House bill through an amendment. On Friday their plan worked, and the bill passed in the Democrat-controlled Senate.

Senators say they have no hopes that the House will take up the measure this year. They are looking to January of next year, when the bill will be waiting for House members to consider in the second year of Vermont's lawmaking session.

Voters in Massachusetts and Maine approved of legalizing marijuana through ballot questions during last year's election, bringing the total number of states with legal recreational pot up to eight.

When you think of a drive-thru, fast food probably comes to mind. But what about marijuana? Tumbleweed Express Drive-Thru in Parachute, Colorado, is the first of its kind. After nearly a year of preparation, the drive-thru pot shop opened for business on 4/20.

"Their timing couldn't have been better in my opinion, I mean everybody wants to celebrate," said Kyle Steele, a customer at the drive-thru.
