The Vermont Senate has again revived a bill to legalize retail sales of marijuana.
The Burlington Free Press reports half of Senate members have sponsored the bill that is heading for a vote this week.
The state Senate passed legislation to allow retail marijuana sales in 2016 and 2017, but both bills died in the state House of Representatives.
Vermont Gov. Phil Scott has said the state is not ready for the change.
Retail sales would begin sometime in 2021 if the current bill becomes law. Sales would be restricted to people 21 and older.
Lawmakers are seeking a 10 to 16 percent tax rate, and the Legislature's Joint Fiscal Office estimates a 16 percent tax would bring in up to $7.4 million in the first year.
