Vermont State Police: Woman Stabbed Ex-Boyfriend

Two people were apprehended after a stabbing in Richford, Vermont.

Vermont State Police are investigating after a woman allegedly stabbed her ex-boyfriend behind a laundromat in the town of Richford.

Around 12:24 a.m. Sunday, state police were dispatched to a stabbing behind the laundromat off River Street. The victim, Trevor Sweet, was transported to Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans. He is in stable condition.

Investigation revealed that Sweet was stabbed by his former girlfriend, 20-year-old Caitlyn Fregeau of Bakersfield. Her current boyfriend, 21-year-old Tanner Hart, assisted her in leaving the scene and eluding authorities.

Both Fregeau and Hart were later taken into custody by Essex Police who had been on the lookout for Hart's vehicle. Police clocked Hart traveling at 102 MPH on VT 105 in the Swanton/St. Albans area.

Fregeau is charged with attempted manslaughter and is being held on $150,000 cash bail. Hart is charged with accessory after the fact and careless and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. He is held on $75,000 bail.
