Vermont Woman Charged With Attempted Murder in Hammer Attack

A Putney, Vermont, woman is facing an attempted murder charge after police said she called them to report she repeatedly hit her roommate with a “hammer or some sort of club.”

Fiona Gordon-McLeod, 69, was arrested by responding Vermont State troopers at her Westminster Road home Thursday morning and now faces a charge of attempted murder.

Police said they found a “severely injured” 76-year-old female at the residence. The victim, not identified, was transported by ambulance to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital and later airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Gordon-McLeod was held on $50,000 cash bail, and will be arraigned Monday in Windham Superior Criminal court.
