Veteran, 89, to Receive World War II Medals

William Glynn, a Pawtucket resident born in Central Falls, served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946

An 89-year-old U.S. Navy veteran from Rhode Island is being presented Tuesday with medals he earned for service during World War II but never received.

William Glynn, a Pawtucket resident born in Central Falls, served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946 and saw combat at the Battle of Normandy.

U.S. Sen. Jack Reed is hosting the presentation ceremony Monday afternoon at the Chestnut Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in East Providence.

The senator's office says he will present Glynn with awards including the American Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, and the Navy Good Conduct Medal.
