Officials are marking the completion of two new housing developments for veterans in Rhode Island ahead of Veterans Day.

Operation Stand Down Rhode Island and state and federal officials are scheduled Monday to mark completion of 10 homes in Westerly, including seven one-bedroom apartments and three two-bedroom apartments. Two historic buildings were restored and one was torn down and a new one built.

The facility also features an outreach office which will help the group expand its reach and provide services.

Officials are also celebrating the completion of 14 efficiency apartments at Turning Point II in Providence near the Veterans Administration Hospital.

The executive director of Rhode Island Housing says he expects an additional 20 homes for veterans will open by December 2015.
