Victim Struck By Commuter Rail Train in Lowell

A 62-year-old male has been struck by a commuter rail train in the area of Gallagher Terminal on Thorndike Street in Lowell. The MBTA Transit Police Department is currently at the scene. 

According to the Transit Police, the man was trespassing on the right of way in the vicinity of Howard and Mapple Street when he was struck by an outbound MBTA Commuter Rail train on the Lowell line. He has sustained life-threatening injuries. Foul play is not suspected.

Regular commuter rail service has been restored.
