The man who was indicted for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 23-year-old woman in January was back in court Wednesday for a detention hearing.
Victor Pena, 38, of Charlestown, Massachusetts was indicted by a grand jury on one count of kidnapping and 10 counts of aggravated rape.
Attorneys completed producing evidence on Wednesday and will be back in court for further arguments on Thursday.
Pena's first encountered the woman as she left a Boston bar, according to officials. Pena then took her to his apartment, where he held her captive for three days before authorities found her.
Prosecutors revealed disturbing details on the woman's abduction at Pena's latest court appearance. They said he told the victim the two were going to start a family together and that he "rescued" her. Prosecutors said the woman was sexually assaulted multiple times during her capture.
Pena's attorney, William Barabino, said his client has mental health issues and denies the claims. The suspect's brother defended Pena and said he has the mental capacity of a teenager.
Barabino said Pena has the mental capacity of a 12-year-old and he is working on getting him evaluated.

The suspect pleaded not guilty to the charges. Pena has been held without bail since his Jan. 22 arrest.
